New Snow!
by augs on February 25, 2017, 10:15 AM
It's a beautiful morning, and the trails I were on were mostly frozen under the new snow.  However, there were soft spots, and anyplace with a southern exposure was on it's way to getting really soft.  So if you are thinking of heading out today, be prepared to bail if the things get too soft.  They are are going to be changing through the day, so posted trail conditions may or may not be accurate.  Your best bet may be to get up early tomorrow morning.  Or if you don't mind mixing in some (maybe all) pavement, there's this: https://www.facebook.com/events/216499638757972/

Reminder: Blackhawk Fat Bike Riding
by imwjl on February 03, 2017, 10:00 PM
Please remember the winter rules for Blackhawk biking.

1. No riding on ski trails!
2. You must be a Blackhawk member.
3. The Erdman ski trail is off limits to bicycles in winter.

If you ride between Blackhawk and Pleasant View, you ride along the creek trail and only cross the XC trail.

Please do not be the one who wrecks fat biking at Blackhawk before the first season ends. Please educate any riders who are making these mistakes.

City of Madison Update
by augs on January 15, 2017, 08:52 AM
Things are progressing well in our conversations with Madison Parks.  Thanks to everyone who filled out a survey, we presented them with that data last week.  See the results here.

We're working on getting some snow-biking opportunities, and have some folks scouting out locations.  We got an Assistant Parks Superintendent on a bike out at the Surly Demo, and, despite less than ideal conditions, he had a good time and has a better idea of the possibilities.

Fat-bikers have an opportunity to ride at Elver Park as a part of Winter Fest.

Want to help keep things moving in the right direction?  There are a series of listening sessions scheduled ahead of the Master Plan update.  Dates and locations here.

More information and discussion here.
