Camping Spots?
« on: April 07, 2012, 11:31 pm »
So my 5yo loves sleeping in the tent in the backyard, so I'm thinking an overnight trip by bike might be fun.  Say something within an hour or two of slow riding (she'll ride the piccolo and/or on my big dummy if it's out of her range), nothing exotic required, restroom facilities a bonus.

Suggestions?

Thanks.

If you are looking for some singletrack to camp near, Blue Mound is your place.

If doubletrack, well Blue Mound is still your place. Military Ridge Trail runs right past it, and you can camp in the special bike camping area right near the trail. Also has nice facilities if you want them like showers, and even a really nice pool 8) I have found the combination of riding, with breaks for the pool, make for pretty happy kiddos ;D

To get to Blue Mound might be a long ride for a young kid.  You're looking at 20-25 miles from Madison.

Maybe too close but how about Lake Farm Campground just south of the city?

Yeah, blue mounds is probably a stretch for a 5yo, even riding on my dummy.  The lake farm site is probably what I'm looking at.  We can go farther out when she gets a little older..

Thanks everyone, keep the suggestions coming.
