Cost me a month of riding and another 1.5 months of easy spinning before the swelling stayed down.   >:(

I remember two years ago it got me as well. Luckily your advice had me out after day one or I probably would done the same as you. I still felt it the rest of the year after every ride. And I swear I still feel them after every ride that I go for a decent air or drop.
Gotta watch out for that one. Keep those cleats WAY back on the shoes!

I ride my ss dj at quarry ridge, it's 34 x 17.  I can make the sandy climb with it but only once and it's a bitch.

If I'm gonna do laps I bring the geared bike, but I am a total granny gear climber cause I save my energy for the way down.  I have the balance to climb the sandy bowl at .2 mph so I do it, nice and easy.

I have a 21 rear cog that I don't use Bin if you want to borrow it your more than welcome.

I rode camrock once with 34 x 17 and it was a major pain in the ass too.

A lady did the Tour Divide on a fixie a few years back. Saw a guy at a race last year on a 29er fixie with woodchipper handlebars. It was a beautiful bike but he looked like death warmed over at 10 miles in. It didn't help that he was a prick and never wanted to concede the pass even though he had 20 guys queued up behind him. I digress.

Old-ass Kona Kaboom.  32x16 (I think).  26".  I make it up everything at CR, other than climbs in the original expert loop.

Never have made it up the sandy climb at Quarry.  I actually don't even try.

I wouldn't ride fixed to be fast off road, just to mess around!  I believe that the guy who raced with one was prob hating life pretty bad at that moment!

Here is my wip. Raleigh XXIX belt drive. Only thing stock on this thing anymore is the belt, cogs, and frame. Rides nice and wippy; just how I like my bikes and women. :)
