GT to Leader Build
« on: June 11, 2012, 06:53 pm »
Well..I started this da**  project..With much help and support from Aaron, Nick, etc She is coming along great. Had to trim about 1 1/2" off head tube of fork, but the headset went well. No special tools needed...PVC tube and rubber mallet...lol

Avid BB7's are in but need tweeked..

The crank wont come off GT yet, cant seem to get the arm off left side even, Ill work on it tonight. Shimano HG40 chain had to be dismembered, but was able to pick up another and make it work.

Da** cable for front der. I botched, and all the cable stops, housings are way off, guess Ill use what aquarium supplies I have, some 5mm black vinyl tubing and re-do all the lines.

Ill throw up some pics in a few. Just wanted to share with whoever cares..lol

I don't think 5mm vinyl tubing is going to work as cable housing.  You need the real thing.  There is a difference between shift and brake housing as well.

Yep.  Brake and shift cable housing has a metal element to it also.

Shift housing especially has longitudinal steel wires running along it's length to prevent compression during shifting.

Brake housing has a spiral wound steel wire within it
