CORP is thrilled to announce that we have signed an agreement with Rock Solid Trail Contracting  to build Phase One at Blue Mound State Park this fall, and they are scheduled to start work on September 19.  They will have two crews out, and if the weather cooperates, they plan to finish this year.

Blue Mound State Park is one of the most technically challenging, yet rewarding MTB trails in the state. Phase One will focus on a major re-work of the Gneiss trail. First it will be modified to drain water better and will therefore not be closed as often. Second, it will add much needed A/B options for riders wanting more or less technical awesomeness and dramatically improve the return trail, giving riders a shorter option.

Rock Solid is a nationally known trailbuilder, known for creative and sustainable building in some of the best known mountain biking destinations in the country.  We're confident that their experience will allow them to make our desired improvements to Blue Mound while maintaining the character that makes it one of the best riding destinations in the midwest.

We recently received $80,000 from the Friends of Blue Mound State Park, which puts us very close to our fundraising goal of $163,000. To help us get there, the Friends have agreed to an additional matching grant of $20,000!!  We don't want to leave that money on the table, help us close the gap, donate now!

How accessible will everything be during construction?

We’re going to try to keep things as open as possible, but there will likely be some closures. Trail conditions should always have the latest  updates.

The Rock Solid crews started the final part of the Gneiss project last week, refinishing Chert Dip. The park has received around 2.5" of rain Friday through Saturday.  Chert Dip is well drained, and I believe the recent rain will not cause any delay in trail construction.

It's looking likely that the Gneiss project will be completed in 2022. We lucked out on the weather, overall.

Chert Dip will be closed for the next 1-2 weeks.
