Gauging interest- new underground good times events by the VBC

    April 23, 2012, 12:46 PM

I'd like to set up a couple of new good times events this year.  Please post if you'd be interested in participating.

Idea #1.  Weeknight time trial at one of CORP's trails.  Club member cost $5.  Proceeds go to CORP.  Simple, no frills timing. Show up and ride what should be a "known" loop with minimal trail markings.  Door prizes for best times.  Grill out and beers afterward.  We could give a wide window, like show and ride anytime between 4:30-6pm.

Idea #2.  Pixie racing.  This requires you to make a minimal investment in a 16" wheeled bike.  How you customize that bike is up to you.  I'm sure there's gonna be some rules but I can't think of any off the top of my head, so that's good.  Small cross country loop and down hill catagories.  Prizes, grilling and beers after.

Give me 10 people for each event and I'll work to organize it.

Funny I was just trying to figure out how to get rid of two extra 16" bikes...

My boys are still little. I can just "borrow" one from them. Though entering a VBC event it may never be the same again ;D

We've been planning a chainless bike race. Run with it if you wish.

Our tentative dates for repeat of end of season jam are weekend of Sept 22 with Oct 13 rain date or the 13th with next Badger away date the rain date.

I'm interested in the time trial.

Sorry to un jack the thread.

It would be nice if the TT was at least a couple miles long and you had the option to do multiple laps.

    Maybe $5 for first lap

    $2 for additional attempts

I like TT format with grilling and beverages on a Monday or Tuesday night.

I can see a 16" bike event at CR. Start at the shelter. Go out past the kiosk to the singletrack. Choose your route down the hill. Either getting air and straight down, or longer with lots of turns but keep the wheels on the ground. Then at the bottom of the hill everyone cheers you "racing" back up the grass doubletrack to the shelter. Beers await.

Sounds like a blast to me ;D

The week night TT sounds like the easiest to put together in short order. The pixie race could work if notice was given well in advance. We could run a short lap in the north prairie from where the two trails pinch together to the beginning of IMBA influence and back.
