Finally! It is almost time. Your first chance of the year to get out and give back to the trails you love to ride. Get it on your calendar for next Saturday at 8a. We will meet at the CORP garage in Cambridge, divide up into groups, and head out from there.
    Stay tuned for more details.

So we have at least five trees down. A number of places carrying water, that we can fix with some fun features. Some low areas and tree tree roots that need protecting with rock armoring. And some berms that need much love. It is going to be a productinve day! And with weather like this, you ain't ridding anyway. So come on out and help us whip the trails into shape for the year.

Tentative plan: Meet at the CORP garage at 8a. We will have coffee and donuts to try and get you awake. If you don't know where the garage is head to CamRock Sport. It's across the street.
We will carpool up and head out from there.
Work on various projects from 8:30ish until around 1:30ish.
We will have snacks and water to refill water bottles on-site. Eat a light lunch and keep on working.
Pick up and head to CamRock Sport. Plan to be there by 2p. Then a post work late-lunch and a beverage at CamRock Sport. More details to come. They are looking at what they can do for a group of us, but it looks like we will want to get inside this year. No grilling out in the parking lot this year, it's going to be chilly!

    Need to bring:
Work clothes you can get dirty.
Work shoes or boots you can get dirty.
Work gloves if you have them.

OK the plans are coming together nicely. It is great weather for building trails! Yes really. Well other than we have to move snow today. The ground is soft, and it is not hot. Those are great trail building conditions!
We are already out doing work to get ready for the day tomorrow. There will be work going on at CamRock all day today. Thanks Dave!

The plan has not changed a lot. But here it is:
Meet at the CORP garage at 8a. If you don't know where that is, type in Google 301 W Water St, Cambridge. That will get you there. Essentially across the creek from CamRock Sport.
We will have coffee and donuts to try and get you awake while we sign the obligatory waivers, etc.
We will carpool up and head out from there.
Work on various projects from 8:30ish until around 1:30ish.
We will have snacks and water to refill water bottles on-site. Eat a snack as needed and keep on working. Bring your own snack if you need something other than donuts or granola bars.
Pick up around 1:30p and head to CamRock Sport. Plan to be there by 2p.
They are generously donating a free sammich and a beverage to all for our hard work! Thank the great folks at CamRock Sport for their support! They will even let us inside with our dirty boots and muddy pants to warm up!

    Need to bring:
Warm work clothes. Ones you can get dirty. Wear layers. You will get warm if you are doing work. Cold if stopping to rest.
Work shoes or boots you can get dirty. A pair to change into after would not be a bad idea.
Work gloves if you have them. I will try to have a couple extra pairs, but no promises.

Its going to be a great day. Lots of surprises on the trails this spring! Sorry for the long post. See you tomorrow!

You might think I am nuts, and you would prolly not be alone in that assessment, but this is great trail building weather! A sweatshirt and light pants are all that is needed to be comfortable when working on the trails today. And it is supposed to be about the same temps tomorrow, except no snow flurries and more sun. So it should be great ;D
I do recommend bringing along another warm layer though. If you take a break or stand around for long you will want to stay warm!
In other words, "It's a great day to build Mountain Biking Trails". Come on out and join us!

If you have a garden rake you can bring tomorrow, please do so. With what we are doing tomorrow the more garden rakes the better.

Last minute questions: Yes we are still on. Yes it will be interesting. No we have never had a snowball fight at a Trail Day - but there is always a first!
We will still get a lot done today. The snow will melt. Anyway, we HAVE to. After the trail prep a huge section of trail is unrideable until we work on it.
Even though it's cool, please remember to bring your water bottles to stay hydrated. Boots, gloves, and dress in layers.
See you at 8a! If you come late for any reason, no sweat, just park at CamRock 2 and walk across the bridge. We will be working in the areas just north of the Roundabout.

As a recap: Dave and I worked the day before to get the trails prepped for the Trail Day. This worked well. The tiller works great, and it does work that is nearly impossible by hand, but it can't stay ahead of multiple work crews. So that was a good plan.
The snow and way below freezing temps overnight hurt a lot. But we had a lot of hardy people show up anyway. Almost 30 people braved the temps and snow! And we persevered and got a ton of work done! By the end of he day the trail was drying. There are some really nice new sections of trail. Some really neat new features to ride. And all of it took existing trail that was eroded, washed out, and not fun to ride, and made a sustainable trail that will be a blast to ride. I can't thank everyone who came out enough! It is great folks like you giving back to CORP and the trails that make it possible!
