    Sheehan Park Update

    May 18, 2020, 02:31 PM

Just a quick clarification on a rumor about closing Sheehan Park's mountain bike trails in Sun Prairie. There are no current discussions with the city council or park's commission regarding closure of the trails.
There is a proposal for adding wood features and moving the entrance route. The proposal was approved by the Parks, Recreation, and Forestry Commission that is now headed to the Common Council for review. This proposal will be on the June 2nd agenda.

    Volunteers:
Thanks to everyone who has mentioned a willingness to assist with trail maintenance and trail building. Due to Covid-19, the Sheehan Park trail stewards opted to cancel our planned public trail workday. We have continued to work with Sun Prairie's Forestry Department who, with permission, allow us to maintain the existing trail network and enhance areas to improve both trail durability and riding experience. Thus work continues, just with smaller crews who are able to meet social distancing guidelines. We ask that those interested in providing assistance stay tuned as we may need assistance with future projects. In the meantime, please don't perform any maintenance or trail work outside of our approved projects. Doing so may affect our relationship with the City of Sun Prairie. If you do see something that needs work or repair, please let us know. You can reach us via the email that is listed on the Contact Us page: https://www.madcitydirt.com/index.php?topic=4119.0

    See you on the trails.
