I finally picked up some lights for my bike and helmet and wanted to start riding after work. My question is about parking, access and when they lock the gates at PV and BH. Is there anywhere special to park so we don't get locked in?

You can park outside the gate at Blackhawk and ride up from town via the South Fork Trail.

Some of us prefer the South Fork Trail route. You hit the dirt warmed up and it's fun going back down. That's the curvy climb to the crest on Pleasant View road.
