Hi All - We are tentatively putting a Saturday 7/22/17 work day on the calendar.  This will be pending approval of our memorandum of understanding at this month's Village Board meeting, but chances are looking good.  Also, we may have some outside sponsor participation so look forward to food and swag!  More information to come.

    When:                  Saturday July 22, 2017, 9:00am – 12:00pm
Where:                1309 Bourbon Road, Cross Plains, WI – (One block south of the stop lights at Hwy 14 and County Hwy KP)
Parking:               Street parking on Bourbon Road or in the gravel parking lot next to the Parks and Recreation Building

Good news!  Our first Cross Plains trail day is finally upon us.  A special thanks to REI for sponsoring this trail day and providing the food and beverages to keep our volunteers going!  Please RSVP to the Facebook invite below so that we can get an accurate head count.  https://www.facebook.com/events/1372480526163604/

We will meet at the Cross Plains Parks and Recreation Building to start the day and will walk about 1 block to the proposed trailhead near County Road KP.  See the attached Trail Day Map for more information.

We will be concentrating on clearing brush along a 1000 foot stretch of the access trail corridor in preparation for the single track trail construction.  The flagged trail is approximately 0.3 miles with an average grade of around 8%.  This area is currently thick with vegetation so be sure to wear gloves, long pants, and potentially a long sleeve shirt.  Also note that there are no restrooms so please come prepared.  We will have some basic tools for volunteers, but please bring brush saws, loppers, and spade shovels if you have them.

Feel free to contact Michael.Cliff@madcitydirt.com with any questions and check out the REI stewardship page below.

    MONDAY TRAIL DAY

We will have a weekly reoccurring trail day starting on Monday 7/31 at 5:30pm and will go until further notice.  If you can stop out after work and put in a few hours of work,  GREAT!  We plan to have tools ready for whoever can make it!  Just drop me an email so that we can have an accurate head count and so that we don't leave you behind.   (michael.cliff(at)madcitydirt(dot)com)

We will meet at the corner of Bourbon Road and County Hwy KP.   If you are coming from Middleton on Hwy 14, turn left (south) on Hwy KP and go one block south.  See the attached map.  Please park on Bourbon Road so that we don't upset the local businesses or residents.  If you get there late, go to the trailhead near the power poles on the hill and look for the partially cleared trail.

See you soon!  Get excited for a new trail!

We continue to make progress with the access trail to the top.  We had a group of 5 on 7/31 who were motivated to clear brush and sweat.  We might be able to clear to the top next Monday if we can continue to have a strong turnout.  Meet at the trailhead 8/7 at 530 or whenever you can make it.  Bring loppers and saws.

When we get the access trail cleared to the top we will start to build the west loop!
