Trail Description

Quarry Ridge has a total of 14 trails ranging from beginner-friendly singletrack to advanced downhill lines. The trail system has been expanded over the last several years with the addition of many jumps, berms, and wooden features. The total trail system mileage is approximately 5 miles with 40% easy, 25% moderate, and 35% advanced singletrack trails.

  • This is a FREE park thanks to the City of Fitchburg.
  • Please heed all posted trail signs, we strive to keep this park fun & safe for riders of all skill levels.
  • The park is accessible from the Military Ridge Trail (by bike) and Fitchrona Road (by car)

There are numerous ways to ride the trail system. Some suggestions:
  • Beginner Loop: Dizzy and Lakeview, combined together, form a 1.5 mile loop of easy trails.
  • Cross-Country Loop: Ride Dizzy to Lakeview to Rewind to Northwoods back to the top to Bottoms Up in that order. This forms a 3.2 mile fast loop.
  • Downhill: Pork Chop, Big Sister, Little Sister, Drop Zone, B. Line, Sandy Bowl, and Tunnel Trail are all advanced downhill trails. Riders can return to the top via Ambulance Climb, Sandy Climb, or Lakeview to Rewind.

Trails
  • Connector - Easy - 0.1 miles: A short two way connector trail from the parking lot to the main trails.
  • Dizzy - Easy - 1.0 miles: A twisty trail with minimal elevation changes. This trail will test your cornering skills. At higher speeds, the trail can be quite a challenge. Two wooden features are located on this trail, several berms, and beginner-friendly optional jumps.
  • Snaggletooth - It splits off of Dizzy near the end. Extremely difficult short rocky technical trail with a couple of line choices.
  • Lakeview - Easy - 0.5 miles: A return along the lake to the start of Dizzy and Rewind at the main trail head. The last two thirds of this trail is slightly downhill to the finish, making it a quick and fast ride.
  • Rewind - Intermediate - 0.5 miles: This trail is the easiest way to the top. The trail has a moderate grade with a few tight switchbacks.
  • Bottoms Up - Intermediate - 0.5 miles: The easiest way back down! Bottoms Up is the original downhill run and is still one of the best. Expect a fast ride with many corners and twists and turns around trees. There is a large rollable double about half way down, it splits off to the right. (Double Up)
  • Sandy Climb - Advanced - 0.3 miles: The original climb named after the sandy trail surface near the top. Much of the sand has been removed, but it is still an advanced climb due to its steepness and rock/sandy sections on the upper part.
  • Northwoods - Intermediate - 0.8 miles: Nice traditional cross country loop with ups and downs, S berms, berms, a few small jumps and rollers. About halfway through there is a short section with an expert mandatory trail gap that splits off to the left. At the end there are two options for the exit. If you stay to the left it is an intermediate trail back to the top. If you stay to the right it is a more advanced technical descent then merges back onto Sandy Climb to the top.
  • Ambulance Climb - Advanced - 0.2 miles: The climb has two routes. The original climb goes straight to the top following an old dirt road. It is short and steep, averaging close to a 20% grade. Although not technically challenging, it will test your fitness! The newer route is all singletrack with several switchbacks to reduce the grade that splits off to the right about a hundred feet up.
  • Big and Little Sister - Advanced - 0.2 miles each: These trails are a single trail for the first 40% of the run, just past the really rocky section Little Sister splits off and you are faced with three wooden drops ( small, medium and large), S berms and ends with 3 dirt tabletops. The line to the right( Big Sister), is a more advanced and fast line with larger dirt jumps all the way down.
  • B. Line - Advanced - 0.2 miles: Parallel to Little Sister it runs down the hill crossing through a technical rocky ravine twice near the top. Berms and jumps along the entire length.
  • Sandy Bowl - Advanced - 0.2 miles: A rugged entry trail leads to an open sandstone bowl. This area is an open space with numerous line combinations for your choosing. After the entry trail stay to the right for an expert twisty line with a ravine gap to the right of a rock drop to a wooden step up lip to the left near the bottom. After the entry trail if you stay left it will take you to several Intermediate options. If you continue to stay left as far as you can it will lead you to some steep rollins and an expert level wooden skinny.
  • Tunnel Trail - Advanced - 0.1 miles: Fast, twisty, and fun. Two table tops and a large roller lead to a ravine with natural berms, machine-built berms, and a wooden wall ride.
  • Drop Zone - Advanced - .44 miles: This trail crosses over Bottoms Up on an elevated wooden drop. This trail is advanced and contains difficult obstacles and is only recommended for experienced riders. About two thirds of the way down there is an alternate line to the right with a few more features before it joins back up with the original trail.
  • Pork Chop - Intermediate to advanced. Some expert features with ride arounds. Designed for all abilities to be able to figure out speed before trying the larger jumps. There is an additional starting point higher up on the hill that is accessed after the very first small climb on the Northwoods Trail, hang a right. Near the end there is a mandatory wooden drop along the right side. About halfway down look for the hidden tree ride called Wood U Rather.
