Construction started this month on the first phase at New Glarus Woods State Park, a one-mile beginner loop that is wide enough for adaptive bikes. We expect to open this first mile in June; stay tuned! Initiation of this project comes after years of effort by CORP and Friends of New Glarus Woods volunteers. As a member of, or contributor to CORP, you help make project like this happen. Thank you!

Fundraising efforts are still underway for the remaining 7.6 miles. Please donate via the home page button to support this project! CORP: Making fun places to ride.

Thank you to over a dozen hardy volunteers who turned out to rebuild some jumps, trim back growth and de-cup trails on a cool, gray day. Perfect weather for trail work!

By bicycle, we are conveniently located just off the Military Ridge bike path at Sprocket Drive between Seminole and Quarry Ridge. The trails have a little something for everyone. There’s an easy flow trail around the perimeter with a couple fun jump lines just off the trail head. A beautiful picnic area is centrally located for spectators.

    Saris Equipment’s address is
    5253 Verona Road

The trails are located behind the factory. Please avoid parking in the lot during regular business hours.

Spring is on its way!  Lets get ready for mountain biking!  The Cross Plains trails are currently closed due to mud but dry warm weather should have them rideable soon.  Check out the trail status at www.madcitydirt.com

We have a spring workday set for Saturday April 6, 2024 from 9am-12pm, so please add this to your calendar.  Meet at the trailhead near CTH KP and Bourbon Road at 9am.  Everyone is welcome, young and old, and we will have tools for everyone.  We will work on clearing leaves and brush from the trails, fix any erosion problems that may have developed over the winter, and may have a couple special projects.  Also, let us know if you have any kids that are in need of a community service project.  We can always come up with ideas.

Please plan on bringing your gloves, bug spray, water, and a loppers or spade shovel (if you have one)! We will plan on having some food and beverage at the end of the event.  If you think you can make it, please reply to the Facebook event below and pass this information along to friends.

    March is the Cruelest Month

    in News
    augs
    March 04, 2024, 10:03 PM

With the nice warm weather we've been having, everyone's thoughts are turning to single track. But the weather can be cruel; it takes a surprisingly long time for the warmth to penetrate and dry out the ground, especially on north facing slopes.  There are many places where there is still snow.  A few things to think about:

    • We want to go ride.
    • We want you to be able to go ride.
    • We want you to have a good time when you go ride, not slog through axle deep mud.
    • Trails with southern or neutral exposures, thin soil cover, or sandy soil will be the first to open.  Quarry Park has already opened, and the Dam Trails and Quarry Ridge shouldn't be far behind.  Blackhawk, Middleton, and Blue Mound might be a bit.
    • Rain is as helpful, if not more helpful, than sunny warm days.  It does a better job of penetrating deep woods and shady slopes.  Once the frost is out, the warm windy days can do their work of drying things out.
    • Pump tracks!

It's a hard time to be a mountain biker, but we'll get through it together!  Keep an eye on the trail conditions, we'll get you out there as soon as we can.
