With the rain, warm temps, and glare ice -- it's unlikely that the trails will be rideable any time soon. But who knows... If you have more info, have time to help, or just want more details, check the BH/PV Grooming thread on the forum.

Blue Mound

PLEASE, do not use the trails when the surface is soft (wet snow/mud). Generally it takes at least 12 hours of 20 degree temps to freeze the tread enough.

Consider joining our email list for occasional notifications of group rides and requests for trail help. Contact the Blue Mound Trail Stewards for more info.

Yeah it's going to be awhile yet folks. There are still areas with ice on the trails. That has to go, then all the ground needs to thaw. Remember that Polar Vortex? That was before the insulating snow came, so the frost is down about 4 feet. A nice warm rain would help thaw. But please not much because the creek is already over it's banks. There is nothing to ride or hike south of Cambridge as the main trail has flowing water over it in large areas. Support your trails: join, donate, volunteer.

It's a sloppy mess. The new Zander Park boardwalk trail is open!!! Park in the lot at Main St and Lagoon St to access the Zander Park Trail. Trails are two-way mixed use so look ahead and be courteous of other users.

Getting closer. Almost all the snow is gone, and some sections are nearly dry. Others are still soupy, though. It’s going to be a week or two anyway. Good things come to those who wait. There ’s always work to do, if you're interested in helping out, please let us know.

Quarry Ridge

Fitchburg, WI
Closed
Do not ride or walk on trail. The exposed dirt is incredibly fragile watery mush. The rest of the trail is water covered ice. Fat bikes are leaving deep tracks/ruts in the dirt causing significant damage. Trail is CLOSED until a hard freeze or complete thaw/dry. Don’t be tempted by warmer weather. The trails aren’t ready and won’t be rideable for weeks.

The great melt-off has begun. Thus the trails can be wet and muddy. Please remember to only ride after the temperatures have been below freezing for a couple of hours. If you are leaving ruts, please stop riding. May 11 - put this on your calendar. That's our trail work day. We hope to see you there as we have three very ambitious projects planned.
