The WI DNR has released the Central Sand Hills Master Plan Draft which includes several updates for Devils Lake State Park (DLSP) in Baraboo, WI.  This Draft Master Plan is very Single-Track and Mountain Bike friendly and focuses on several areas where trails could be produced.  DLSP is very overcrowded from May - September and the addition of new cycling trails could help spread visitors out into different areas at DLSP and could contribute to building an epic area for cycling.  Now, more than ever we need the cycling community to speak up in favor of these new single-track trails.  Please make comments in support of these trails!  The public input period ends on November 2nd!

    Are these yours?

Those berms can be somewhat tough even for experienced riders since they are pretty tight, especially the third berm. Try putting your berm side pedal down and putting the majority of your weight on the berm side pedal. At the same time lean away from the berm with your body. The best advice I can give is to just keep riding and ride with others, you will get better and more comfortable on the bike over time.

Hi everyone! Just started riding in September and loving it; especially Quarry Ridge and Cannonball Path. Trying to get as much out of the remainder of this season as I can, then super excited for the next.

I ride a pinkish-red Canyon Neuron. Currently working my way through intermediate trails, then advanced. If anyone has some advice on how to better handle steep S berms (like Northwoods at Quarry Ridge lol) let me know!

    Welcome.

The CamRock and Middleton social rides are still going on. They are friendly and can help skills building.

One piece of advice for what you ask is ride "light hands, heavy feet". If you ski or snowboard think of how hesitation buys you nothing and you need to be balanced and carve (butt off your bike seat). YouTube is full of better advice than from old me.

End of season does change things. You need to watch the conditions reports before you ride. It's not like the Tuesday and Thursday social rides but trail work days are often helpful for new riders in that you meet people and often ride too.

    Enjoy!

Despite the threat of rain, and then actual rain, over 100 members of the mountain bike community came out for our Annual Fall Movie Night featuring Esperanto, and raised over $3000 to keep improving local riding.  Thanks to Capital Brewery for hosting (and kicking in another $250 through the sales of Trailhead Ale), Pizza Brutta for food, the CORP Interns and the rest of the volunteers for organizing, and all of our generous door prize donors; Black Saddle Bike Shop, Blue Mounds Bicycle Works, Machinery Row Bicycles, Neff Cycle Service, Revolution Cycles, Saris, Slow Roll Cycles, Trek West, and Underground Meats.  And especially everyone who came out for the fun!

    Middleton Pump Track Temporarily Closed

The pump track at Middleton Bike Park is temporarily closed while the landscaping is installed. Please respect the time and money that is going into this effort. There will be workers and equipment on site, and irrigation equipment on the track for the next couple weeks. Please help us allow the plantings to get a start.

Once the irrigation equipment is pulled, the track will re-open, but it is very important that we stay off the freshly seeded areas. The landscapers would like to see the facility closed until the grass is established, i.e. next spring. We've convinced Middleton Parks staff that we will be able to use the track and stay off the landscaping, and we need everyone's help to make sure that happens. Failure to do that will result in the a longer closure. Thanks for cooperating!

I found a Cateye Velo 9 bike computer about 20 feet in on IMBA Influence trail at CamRock 10/1/23. It is at the base of the nearby trail map now.

Thanks for reaching out. I am interested in learning more. I am new to CORP and will be overseeing trail operations and development. Please email your contact number to me at derek.johnson@madcitydirt.com and we can schedule a phone call or meeting.
