I thought some of our CORP families might be interested in this. This is really a neat program and the program leadership includes 3 Blackhawk members who made it to the Winter Olympics. One's a fat biker in his 70s!

A few of our CORP kids who hang at the dirt jumps and Quarry Ridge are ski jumpers.

    From Christine:

Do your kids like to go over the jumps on hill 2?  If the answer is yes, the Blackhawk Ski Jumping Program may be the right fit for your child. We currently have room in our Tuesday 5:30 Intro to Ski Jumping class.  Kids can use their current alpine equipment and learn the basics of ski jumping.  We start new jumpers on our smallest 5-meter jumps and our experienced coaching staff will teach them the proper techniques of this exciting sport. If your kids have tried ski jumping before and would like to advance more, they can also join the ski jumping team for Tuesday and Thursday night practice.
Blackhawk was founded by ski jumpers and continues a rich tradition in producing National Champions.  Our coaching staff consists of two-time Olympic ski jumper, Kurt Stein; former US Nordic Combined team member, Shawn Arneson; and former Central Division Devo Team member, Nick Schott.  All three coaches have an incredible amount of ski jumping experience that they pass on to our athletes. This year we hope to again have several Blackhawk kids qualify for Junior Nationals.
How can you become involved?  You can sign up for the Intro class or the ski jumping team on the Blackhawk website.  If your child wants to give it a try before you commit to the program that is fine too.  Just come to the jump shed on Tuesday, January 6th and you can meet the coaches and the other kids in the program and give it a try.  We have jumpers ranging in age from 5 to 18.  If you have any questions reply to this email and I will get back to you.
